A Community Worth Celebrating :')

Today, I want to shift from talking about my favorite music of the year for a moment, and instead focus on celebrating something that's been on my mind a lot lately. This year, I've spent a great deal of time with so many supportive, talented, beautiful, strong, FUN women in the music world & in my life. I can't begin to describe the ways that having this network of incredible people has positively impacted my world.

In the male-dominated field of music (and patriarchal society in general), I've struggled throughout my life with sexism, microaggressions, low self-esteem, self-doubt, situations that have made me uncomfortable, and second-guessing or gaslighting myself for maybe just being too sensitive. I am so fortunate to have been able to connect with women who have also experienced these negative emotions and fears in very similar situations, and it has been incredibly healing to feel validated and understood. Growing up, I remember feeling a sense of competition towards other women, and I can now say with so much joy that all I feel for and from my fellow females is admiration, support, and love.

To the women in my life who have heard me, supported me, opened up to me, created with me, cried with me, laughed with me - thank you for making my life so rich and full. I am constantly in awe of your incredible talent, strength, creativity, and compassion. These relationships mean the world to me and I'm honored & blessed to know all of you. Plus, you are all KILLING IT in your respective professional and artistic endeavors and it's absolutely inspiring to watch.
